From April 16 to May 4, 2025, Opera Gallery Dubai presents "Calder / Hiquily: Balancing Act", an exceptional exhibition bringing together works by Philippe Hiquily with his American counterpart Alexander Calder.

The exhibition "Calder / Hiquily: Balancing Act" reveals a fascinating dialogue between the two artists around movement, balance and form. While their methods and approaches differ, their shared passion for kinetic sculpture, the search for balance and the interplay between full and empty, unites them.

Alexander Calder, creator of the mobile, invented an art in motion, defying gravity and bringing an almost ethereal lightness to his sculptures. Philippe Hiquily, meanwhile, has always sought to breathe quasi-organic life and movement into his metal sculptures.

The exhibition features some twenty works by Hiquily, including Cheng Yi (2006), Cheng San (2006) and La Reorneadora (2006), alongside Calder's mobiles and gouaches.
